Really good sushi. We have really high sushi standards and it was good but not the best I've had. Definitely worth it, and would recommend!

I've never been disappointed in two decades of coming here. Whether to treat my sister for her birthday, a family get together, or, like today, takeout, it's always on point. Today I was promptly greeted upon entering. The menu was easy to read, and I got exactly what I ordered. Everything was fresh and delicious. Appetizer, soup, sushi less than two sawbucks. Nom. Do recommend. Bring a date.

Tips on ordering!
Coming here for many years. in fact, one of the photos was taken seven years ago while the others were taken just a couple of days ago.

The sushi remains excellent. Never once have I had a problem on the menu or something that was subpar.

We have had consistently excellent service, with some servers being some of our favorite servers in the industry! One of our favorite servers used to consistently tell us physics and chemistry jokes, knowing that my kids and my whole family are big nerds!

Some tips on ordering:

1. I love the miso yellowtail. The photos you see of a fish that looks like a cat made out of an orange is the miso yellowtail. Its beautifully seared pieces of yellowtail, in a mild miso sauce, and presented playfully. Sometimes its a cat, sometimes they carve an orange out into little slices like a flower and put the fish on top of it. Its really a beautiful dish. And its delicious, and the yellowtail is cooked absolutely perfectly!

2. The special rolls are always wonderful, though they tend to be tempura heavy and, of course, the sushi lunch specials are excellent. Try the bento box if youve never tried one.

3. The steamed veggie appetizer is only five dollars, I know this is a sushi place, but youve got to have vegetables with children; this was wonderful, especially if we asked just to have 100% broccoli. They bring you a giant gorgeous steaming bowl of broccoli, and it is bright green and gorgeous and cooked perfectly. So if you have kids, its so nice to have that brought out so they have something green while you all are waiting for your sushi, and if you ask for the dumpling sauce with it, you can dip the broccoli in the dumpling sauce!

4. If they offer toro, which is a very expensive form of fatty tuna get it. You may think its a lot of money for two pieces of fish, but it will be the best fish youve ever had. Its seasonal.

5. For a big group its always fun to get the sushi boat! its a nice variety, but it has a lot of sashimi on it, so make sure you have some fish lovers with you!

6. The hot teas are really excellent. They go beyond the typical green tea and jasmine tea and have a great selection.

7. The inside is cozy but the outside porch is lovely and has a great deal of natural light. If its not too cold, sit on the outside porch, its actually very well insulated and heated and is fine except for the very coldest of days.

We had bento box lunch specials. He got the "regular"; I got the "fusion". Each had several options to chose from. Both were delicious. And we could easily have shared one meal -there was that much food (I had to bring some of mine home and finished it that evening yum yum). A great value and such a pleasant surprise. We highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back.

Nice restaurant for enjoying some wonderful Sushi, with numerous Sushi options in the menu. Very limited other options for vegetarians.

Overall good, but I've had some hit or miss experiences here. The food has been fairly good. I'm not a fan of the open dining room in the back. The lack of privacy of being sat right between two groups of strangers for a couples date is unnerving.

Sushi was alright, I really liked the Fire and Ice roll. Our server was new but doing her best. Inside was very casual, atmosphere. Low music playing in the background. Nothing was great, nothing was terrible.

Fast and friendly service. Food is very fresh and quick to come to your table. Mongolian beef was some of the best I've had in years. It's such a simple dish but very few get it right. Any sushi roll will be great. Pot stickers are amazing. Teriyaki hibachi across are table was very good.

I dont know if we just timed it right but all the sashimi and rolls we had were fresh. The tempura was done right. No thick and oily batter that you normally get in most Japanese restaurants.
Where do you see 5 sushi makers working during a week night? and price is very reasonable for the quality.

If I could rate higher than a 5 I would give Green Tea a 25 . My husband and I came to Asheville for our honeymoon, Green Tea completed our honeymoon. Icchi was an amazing server, very nice with a beautiful soul, everyone at Green Tea was super nice. your Tennessee newlyweds.

Our neighbor invited us out for dinner at the Green Tea Sushi bar. So relaxing easy to sit and enjoy one anothers company and the food was so tasty. Many options, I cant wait to return to try some new menu items.

Our server was fantastic. She was very attentive and knew the menu so she could make recommendations and explain dishes. The food was well prepared and had very good flavor. We had everything from Pad Thai to bento boxes to sushi to an udon dish. I would highly recommend for small or large parties.

The ice cream is really good, not a fan of the fire Island roll but everything else from decor, other dishes, and servers were amazing!

Ive eaten here many, many times and really like it. Consistently good food, lots of choices. My favorites are the Pad Thai or Mango chicken. Also excellent sushi. Nice gyoza and spring rolls. Highly recommend! (Also the new sister location at the mall, Mr. Tea, is excellent as well. A bit more upscale in atmosphere there but same great food.)

I ducked in about 15 mins before closing and order some sushi for takeout. There takeout setup is impressive. Nice cover take tray and a stapled reusable bag. I ran back to my hotel with sushi in hand and the sushi was delicious. Definitely some of the best sushi Ive ever had and it was takeout made right before closing!

Really cool place and staff was very friendly. We had a reservation for a group of 17, as usual for a large group we were running behind. They were still amazing and got all the orders correct. Food was hot and delicious.

We went here with a very large group. They did a good job of paying attention to us. We did the hibachi and the rice and chicken were very dry but good flavor. They put us in the side room and the air conditioning was awful. Was at least 10 degrees warmer than the other side of the restaurant.

It is good. Great atmosphere. The sashimi is really fresh but none of the crab "meat" is real crab. I love to order sashimi platter which comes with a chef special roll which is supposed to be a really nice roll. Ours had the fake crab. A liytle disappointed BUT I do like this place and will be back. Our server knew nothing about the menu.

This is my favorite place for sushi in asheville. Good service, lots if outdoor seating. The food is fresh and they never skimp on ingredients. The only negative is they don't put cucumber in the california roll.

Located near Sam's Club, we arrived for dinner at Green Tea Japanese Cuisine just before 6:30 on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was super busy, but we didn't have to wait long in the line before being seated. The ambiance was a little loud, but tolerable. They have tasteful Japanese art and decorations. Even the windows appeared to emulate the look and feel of Japanese construction.

Our server Sage was attentive and thorough. He/she/they checked on us periodically and made sure our waters remained filled. I ordered the steak hibachi cooked medium rare with a side salad.

The food arrived quickly. Within 10 minutes of ordering, the salad and appetizers arrived. The food was absolutely delicious. I don't typically like raw fish or seafood of any sort, but I loved the rice and steak. It was so good!

My only complaint was the price tag; felt a little steep with a side of sticker shock. $85 for three people? I know the cost of everything has gone through the roof, but holy hell. I'm glad we tried the food, and I recommend eating there at least once, but we probably won't be back for a while.

My family & I had lunch here yesterday, & we were all really impressed! Everything was incredible The ingredients/fish were super fresh, the presentation was gorgeous, & the portion sizes were filling. There was so much attention to detail & our maki rolls were made with a lot of love & care. The sushi chefs here take great pride in their work/creations & I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Chicago!

Ordered a ton of food for delivery. It arrived beautifully packaged and the bags were clearly labeled 1/2, 2/2 so nothing was left behind.

We got chirashi bowls heaped with rice and thick sliced fish, gyoza, shu-mai, rolls, seaweed salad, miso and clear broth soups. Except for the bbq octopus which was a little too chewy, it was all great.

The sushi is pretty good here but Im limited on what I can order because I cant eat soy. I know, why go to a Japanese restaurant if you cant eat soy? But I do love sushi and theres is good. Unfortunately, the server didnt realize that the mayo in the ginger dressing had soy and after eating it, thinking it was ok, I had an allergic reaction for a week. Nothing major, but a skin issue that is unpleasant.

Since soy is an allergen restaurant staff should be knowledgeable about what it is in on the menu.

This spot is a local favorite. As a sushi fan I wanted to try their sushi. The restaurant is somewhat close to home and I'm always looking for the best of what I can find near me. Best sushi in town. Location is off, and but don't let you the front give you bad impressions, this place is super cute inside and the food is Amazing! Sushis are big and taste great. Bento box is also huge! Shrimp taste like real shrimp!

The food & service were excellent. We didn't like sitting so close to the entrance. I guess there was a party in the main area. The food was great though.

We had a really enjoyable time here and it's great for larger groups. Plenty of parking out front too. As starters we got the calamari, sashimi and dumplings, the calamari was a bit too cooked but the sashimi and dumplings more than made up for it. Everyone was very happy with their mains, including the Mongolian beef, chicken pad Thai and the various sushi rolls.

I've lived here in the area for years and always go to either Ichiban or Wasabi for sushi because I usually prefer hibachi made in front of me, ya know the whole entertainment thing, catching eggs in yo mouth . I just needed sushi today after eating McDonald's three days straight . It is what it is. Green Tea is conveniently located off of Patton Avenue. When I say great prices, I'm a millennial and I mean it. You've got to go for the California roll of course, 8 pieces for $6.00. The shrimp tempura rolls and spicy pork dumplings were just.. perfect. Great service, warm atmosphere and not crammed like other places. Check it out for an intimate date night or their larger party area. Legit 5/5.

Clearly Ive been eating at this place for years as that 5 star review was 5 years old. Unfortunately the last 2 times I have ordered, its nothing like it was. I use to enjoy their food so much and have spent too much money on each order. Most recent order, sushi doesnt taste the same at all. Yaki udon had no flavor, the color of the noodles were even completely different. Hibachi was extremely bland and the rice wasnt fully cooked. I was hoping my order prior to this, maybe just an off day. Two times in a row. Maybe the cost of food they are preparing is affecting the quality of the food because inflation. So disappointed. I guess it might be a good thing since I wont be spending so much money here anymore.

Figured Id give this place one last chance. Wishful hoping that it would be like it was. I am beyond happy that I did! Oh Ive missed how wonderful their food can taste! It was better than I remember! So many options to choose from and every thing was absolutely amazing!

The sushi tasted great. I asked for green onion on one of my rolls and they charged me a dollar which was surprising but I was able to let that slide. I would still return!

We went here on Christmas as it remained open, and it was wonderful. Despite how busy it was the service was extremely accommodating, and fast. The food was all fresh and delicious, the sake cocktails were very creative. It was a very pleasant family outing and I think we'll make it a tradition every 25th.

Table spacing was good...not too close to anyone.. staff was perfectly attentive.

I don't eat fish but they had several delicious alternatives. I was very satisfied!

Sushi and sashimi are all good. Thai food was too spicy or way too sweet for us. Wish they make something happy medium for our taste.

Make sure to try the tempura cheesecake. I'll come back just for that.

Service was excellent. Ginger Salad Dressing had some sweetness to it which I found very pleasing. Best I've had. The steak used in the Teriyaki was very good. Tempura was very crisp and not greasy and the plate looked amazing. White sauce was on point. My adult children enjoyed their sushi. We all would be happy to return in the future.

Excellent the food and the service

Got to Green Tea as it opened, and we were one of the first to be there. The service was good, but it took 45 minutes to get us our sushi and they were out of 4 different beers I requested (3 imports and a local stout)... Ended up settling for a PBR.

We got the deep fried gyoza, which were great and came out quick. The sushi was delicious as always; I has the Fire Island and Bagel Rolls and my wife had chicken tempura roll with avocado and cream cheese. We are never disappointed with the taste or the quality of food. 8/10

Been going to Green Tea for a while now. Everytime I go its always an amazing experience. Especially the food, some of the best, freshest sushi I've ever eaten. The service is always excellent and always a calm atmosphere, a little bit busy sometimes, but worth the wait. Love it and will continue to keep going

Excellent food in a lovely setting! The menu has tons of options, and we really enjoyed everything we ordered. Tempura vegetables were so light and crispy. I knew I had to try the tempura fried cheesecake - it was a spiritual experience.

I was craving something tasty tonight, and a friend of mine suggested Japanese. I hopped online and found this place as one of the top rated Japanese restaurants in the area.

I ordered Miso Soup, Steamed Gyoza, and Mongolian Beef. The Miso was tasty, the Steamed Gyoza came with a unique sauce, and the Mongolian Beef was full of flavor.

Green Tea is a splendid place the sushi chefs are in sight and the menu has loads of options, We have been going to Green Tea for years. The servers are helpful if you are new to sushi or want some changes.

I'd post pictures of the food, but I ate it too fast! We ordered red curry and lots of appetizers. The food came out quickly, served very hot and absolutely delicious. I will absolutely be coming back again. I am so happy to have found my new regular place to eat. We were served by Stephanie who was absolutely lovely and was an aqesome server. 10/10 will go again.

The sushi was nicely prepared and very fresh. The only downside is we sat in the large room outside the main restaurant and it was very loud. They need to hang some sound barriers in the ceiling to help with the sound. Could not have a conversation during the meal.

The highlight of my stay near Ashville NC, this weekend was dinner at Green Tea Sushi Restaurant and Kitchen. The service was excellent and was only topped by the exquisite food. I am looking forward to the next opportunity to sample more of their menu.

One of my personal favorites in Asheville. Best bang for your buck sushi spots in town in my opinion. I love the atmosphere inside; a tranquil bamboo room when I'm with guests, and I really enjoy sitting at the bar while I'm alone, watching the process and talking with the staff. I highly recommend my go to order: Harumaki and brown rice tea to start, a bento box for variety, and an extra roll or two of their fabulous sushi!

I came here on a date the other night and we had such a wonderful time!!! It was both of our first times here. We got sat in the tea room and the ambiance was soooo nice~ The service was good and the presentation and taste of the food was top notch! I'll definitely be coming back to dine in here.

OH and I highlyyyy recommend their Peach Cosmo it was my first time having a cosmo and it certainly will not be my last!

Wonderful experience for gluten free eaters - which is rare in Asian food places around Asheville. The waitress was well informed on substitutions/exclusions and I had absolutely no trouble eating here as a true Celiac. Highly recommend!!

Green Tea is consistently good. We've been dozens of times and the food and service are always on point. Due to dietary restrictions there are usually only a couple of things I want off of a menu but there are so many delicious options for me here, I often have trouble deciding. We recently took some similarly particular family members, and they also loved it. We've gotten takeout and they've been very conscientious about separating the (cold) sushi from the hot meals and including any extras you'd need!

Great food deserves a great review. Ive been to 2 other Japanese restaurants in Asheville and they have been mediocre. Asked for a few packs of white sauce from Hana and didnt receive any ( weak sauce). Tried yalls place and was blown away with how amazing it was, when I picked up food and asked for few things yall gave me perfect amount, and you know us Americans love our sauce. I come almost every week

First time there and every thing was really nice. Food was hot and tasty. Server was attentive to drink lvls and checked on us regularly. Prices seemed high but I also haven't been out exploring new places over a year so what I'm basing that on is old experiences.

Our go to restaurant in Asheville. Attentive staff and super food worth 5 stars. The Sashimi appetizer is great value. Updated menu for special rolls is so good you will come back. My wife and many friends were thrilled with Asian entres from the kitchen.

This is our family's favorite Japanese restaurant in Asheville. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Asheville roll, but my wife and kids are all about the hibachi dinners. We've eaten in and ordered takeout. If you order takeout, I recommend ordering early because they can sometimes get slammed with orders.

I stumbled on Green Tea while running errands. I was starving and new that I didn't want to cook when I got home so decided to treat ourselves to their lunch special. Was the best decision we made all day. We got the 3 roll special and the chicken hibachi. Each cane with soup or salad. We ordered one of each. Both great proportions. Soup could have used more pieces of tofu but the broth was tasty. The rolls were fairly big and so fresh tasting! Chicken hibachi... holy smokes. My mouth is watering just thinking about everything. We paid 25$ and each ate a hearty lunch that left us feeling stuffed and happy.

The staff was also amazing. Times are weird right now and they made our take out experience very pleasant. They were very friendly and delivered right to the car. They did a great job packaging our food and everything was still a perfect temp when we got home.

We'll definitely be going back!

Delicious. We ordered take out here for a riverside dinner (picnic). I tried the vegetable hot pot and veggie sushi platter. It was incredible. I ordered on the yelp app, and the food was ready in 15mins. The location was very cute for dine in customers, and the staff was friendly. Recommend to all.

Love this place! It is beautiful and the staff is not only friendly but fast! The food was delicious and beautifully presented! I definitely recommend sitting in the "outdoor" section! We had the bento box which was big enough to share as well as the cucumber sushi which was my favorite! It was a lot of food but very reasonably priced!

I travel daily for work all over the upstate. Once or twice a week I try new places for lunch. Green Tea exceeded my expectation! I tried Avocado salad, Shumai, Edamame, and Sashimi appetizer. All was very good! I will be sure to come back the next time in town. There are so many items on the menu I'd like to try. The service was good. My waitress was attentive. The sushi was the right temp but the pieces were a bit slim. Could be because it was lunch appetizer? Not sure. Next time I'll try the Sashimi Dinner.
